Curriculum Information
Aims
That students:
- will have a sound knowledge of the life of the Gurus and the practical examples they gave.
- will have a sound knowledge of the principals of the Sikh faith.
- will acknowledge the Guru Granth Sahib as the living Guru and will learn the Gurmukhi.
- will understand important prayers such as the Mool Mantar,Japji Sahib, Asa Di War, Sukhmani Sahib and Anand Sahib.
- will explore the way of life and history in the Punjab before and after the Guru era.
- will understand the functions of Gurdwaras and other historical sites in the world today.
- will understand the concept of family and current societal perspectives.
Students leaving Guru Nanak will have an in depth knowledge of Sikhism as well as an understanding and knowledge of other religions. Part of Sikh studies involves the study of other religions and these will be explored in assemblies and through guest speakers.
