Aprica 2006 Ski Trip

On the 11th February 2006, 21 students and 6 staff left the Guru Nanak School at 2.30am for Luton Airport to catch an early flight to Bergamo Airport in Italy.

The group arrived at the Hotel Ginerpo in Aprica well in time to sort out rooms and have the ski fitting done at leisure.

The hotel accommodation was excellent with the staff making us very welcome. The food, like last year, was fantastic and there was plenty of it.

Again most of the students were beginners and so a few days were spent on the very well equipped nursery slopes before venturing up the chair lifts to the steeper and longer runs.

As the students gained in confidence they were keen to take advantage of the early mornings runs offered by the staff and all were soon tackling a long blue run of about 4km before their morning lessons!

By the end of the week many of the students were taking the bubble car to experience the more difficult runs in the mountains with a few students going right to the top to ski all the way down.

During the week there were a number of activities in the evening including ice-skating and a karaoke and pizza evening where the dulcet tones of Miss Naeem's voice are still ringing throughout the mountains!

A big thank you to all the students for making it a very enjoyable ski trip and to the staff for all their support, including Miss Malik who accompanied us on this trip.
