Claviere 2008 Ski Trip
The Guru Nanak Ski trip - February 2008
On the 17th February 2008, 27 students and staff left the Guru Nanak School and flew from Gatwick Airport to Turin Airport in Italy to the same resort as last year – Claviere.
The group stayed in another hotel – the hotel Roma – which is almost on the nursery slopes.
On the first day the more experienced skiers were off exploring some of the 300km of piste while the beginners were wondering if they would ever be able to stand on skis!
However by the second day all the students were taking the chair lift up to the next stage and skiing down a long Blue run and it soon became apparent that everyone was adapting to the sport really well. The third day saw all the students reaching the top of the mountain and taking on the challenge of the many Red runs available.
The progress made by all the skiers has to be the best I have experienced on all the trips I have bee involved in. Not only did some of the students ski to a village east of Claviere but on the last all the students skied to Montgenevre in France where they explored some of the runs, had lunch, and then skied all the way back to Claviere.
At the end of each day the students were very keen to go on more runs and with the various evening activities such as ice skating, Pizza evening etc it was a very full week.

On Saturday the students were presented with well earned certificates to reflect there achievements.
The students behaved excellently although one or two students did try to throw some of the teachers in the snow – not sure why!
