Year 11 Geography Trip

<< School Trips

Year 11 Geography TripIn the second week of October 2007, the year 11 geography students participated in a one day field trip. We visited Notting Dale in West London. Notting Dale is a valley situated at the bottom of Notting Hill. The Tuesday group were accompanied by Mr Soneji and Wednesday's group had the privilege of Mr Lester's company. We went by school minibus which took about an hour although the distance from our school to Notting Dale was only about 10 miles - traffic is not good at this time in the morning!!

Year 11 Geography TripOnce we arrived in Notting Dale our task was to collect data in order to prepare for our GCSE coursework. The locations we visited included places such as high rise and low rise flats, open spaces and various shopping areas.

Year 11 Geography TripThis field trip enabled us to collect evidence first hand in the Inner City. We also got the opportunity to learn new geographical skills. This trip was enjoyable as we got to see different peoples' lifestyles and houses and services varying from local corner shops to very posh wine bars.

The Tuesday group were not very lucky with the weather – but then it was a geography field trip and you can guarantee the forecast will be rain!!! Wednesday's group were lucky with the high pressure and anticyclonic conditions (that's a sunny day!) The visit was extremely useful as we analysed first hand evidence. The field trip was important as field work is a compulsory element of the GCSE course.
