Manjyot Bharaj Memorial Award
The Manjyot Bharaj Memorial Awards Event - Thursday 6th May 2010 7.00pm
Manjyot was a student at Guru Nanak Sikh Secondary School until 2008 when she left to pursue a university course in English and Linguistics. Having just successfully completed her first year, Manjyot was killed in a road accident. Her tragic death has touched many people and we are holding this event to remember the inspiration she gave and the qualities she showed. We will be raising money by ticket donations to launch a fund and award in Manjyot's name to inspire students to develop the qualities that she was determined to show: Creativity, Compassion and Courage.
This event will be a showcase of creative arts work within the school. Funds raised will give students the opportunities to develop their talents by working with professionals on extra-curricular courses for creative writing and the performing arts or go towards charities helping children with medical conditions and to support theatre-in-education groups that raise awareness and help provide creative and emotional solutions for young people.
We would like to offer tickets to parents and others who contribute a donation (suggested minimum of £10 per ticket). Our hope is to raise £1000 from the evening. Tickets are on sale now in the foyer at lunch time or by sending your donation to school. You may also contact Mrs. Bhamra in the library if you wish to reserve tickets.
