Minet Country Park
A record of Year 7's English work at Minet Country Park June 2009.
The Six-spot Burnet Moth:
Red Burnet Moth Muskaran 7MT (08-9)
A red spotlight
brightened the black coal
Its antennae long as spiders' legs
It hides in the green grass
Yet its brightness caught my eye
Risking its life with every move
It can only trust in its senses to stay alive.
The Red Burnet Moth Chamanjeet
Covered in crimson red and goth black spots
Its skin filled with soft fur
Eyes like tiny buttons
Lying between the soft, gentle leaves and brown soil
Finding nectar with its antlers like long spiders legs
Red Burnet Moth Suman
As black as death, splattered with fiery crimson red
Looking like an Artistic Masterpiece
It rests its wings on the bright green grass
And gazes upon the craggy muddy rocks
Contrasting with its surroundings and standing out
It likes to be the centre of attention.

Sparrow Hawk
Sparrow Hawk
by Kunal 7DS (08-09)
I saw a whole range of birds but the one I liked the most and saw surprisingly was a Sparrow Hawk.
I saw the Sparrow Hawk with
Mr. Bending and Simrandeep.
When everyone went we were left behind and we alone saw it with Mr. Bending's binoculars.
It was flying around and every time we stopped, it was hiding and we could not see it.
The Ox-eye Daisy:
Surrounded by fresh white petals giving off such a scent
A deep eye-catching yellow in the middle, standing out from the rest
The petals as white as snow
These daisies scattered in the countryside and gardens
Many in groups together, side by side
Whilst standing very still, they try to catch a handful of sunshine
The ox-eyed daisy gives off its spectacular natural scent.

Country and Town:
Country and Town
Suman 7SK (08-9)
The fresh breeze blows past the flowers and the fluttering butterflies
As the huge king of the fields rests with his branches spread
Surrounded by his fellow friends
He overlooks the field and guards it
His branches like a stag's antlers
Freely spaced out and spreading further to protect his kingdom
The chirping of grasshoppers fills the silence,
And the harmonious and rhythmic singing of birds
Delights the ears of the other creatures
The flapping of the butterflies' wings
And the swaying of the flowers and the gentle breeze
Add together and make one melodic song, putting a spell on you.
But the rumbling of the lorries and buses and the honking of cars
Disturb the peaceful country, breaking the spell of the song.
The zooming cars and vehicles just bring chaos to the country.
The heavy hard brown building representing the hubbub of the town
The work going on in the building and the workers working and sweating
Not one bit aware that they are disturbing the country.
